Destination Wedding Photography & Film – MIKI Studios

If you are looking for a Destination Wedding Photographer or Destination Wedding Videographer with passion, energy and style for getting the images and film for your wedding whether in London, the UK or further afield you came to the right place.

The number of couples getting married abroad is on the rise, according to the latest reports. Of course, there’s many reasons why destination weddings are appealing to couples. The lure of warmer climates, the excitement of eloping abroad, less formality, or simply the option to say ‘I do’ on the beach or on a mountain hilltop, are all good reasons. As such, Lake Como and Mallorca top the polls for sunshine-filled beach weddings. While closer to home, overseas weddings in Italy and France appeal to those looking for stately homes, jaw-dropping backdrops and breathtakingly romantic wedding venues.

Although there may be more logistics involved in getting married abroad, there’s a surprising amount that can be organised from the UK, including wedding photography.

A number of accomplished wedding photographers in the UK now offer their services to couples marrying abroad. This is often preferential to couples, for a number of reasons. First of all, the option to meet your wedding photographer beforehand and discuss your needs is invaluable. Secondly, the obvious language barrier can be off-putting for hiring a local photographer abroad. But perhaps the most important reason of all to hire a British destination wedding photographer, is for the standard you can expect.

In the UK, wedding photography is considered a serious profession and indeed an art form in itself. We are known to have some of the best photographers in the country, with a wealth of experience. Our standards remain the highest, with couples receiving a number of high-quality edited images, on time and meeting their expectations. Simply put, there is some reassurance in using a British photographer, that you might not receive when booking a wedding photographer abroad. Why jeopardise one of the most important parts of your big day, when there are so many great UK wedding photographers with destination wedding experience?

What to Look For in your Destination Wedding Photographer?

Before booking a destination wedding photographer, be sure to meet them and review their portfolio beforehand. You want to get a feel for their experience, since they should have documented at least two or three international weddings in the past. Look at the comments other couples have left on their website too.

A credible photographer will enjoy travel, and be equipped for all scenarios; come sunshine or rain. Ask them to talk you through some of the destination weddings they have photographed in the past and what is involved. As you will spend a few days with your chosen photographer on location, think about how they will fit in with your friends and family. By their very nature, photographers are people orientated, usually discreet and great observers. Look out for these qualities and more.

They will also need to liaise with your wedding venue to co-ordinate lighting, shade or other requirements. Therefore, it’s important to choose someone with a wealth of experience in photographing overseas weddings and the know-how to connect with suppliers and venue hosts. Consider it a bonus if they speak the local language too!

The handsome, professional and extremely talented guys of Miki Studios were an absolute dream to have at our wedding.

We met for a pre-wedding shoot, which Richard and I both felt a little strange and uneasy doing however after 10 minutes into meeting the guys we both understood why we were there. They made us feel comfortable and calm together in front of the camera.

On the day, they turned up dressed to the nines perfect to fit in with our London black-tie wedding. They stayed right to the end capturing the pretty, the sweaty and the shoeless bride. Natural pictures are their passion, and we couldn’t be happier with how they captured our day.Abi and Kenny -Regent Porto, Montenegro
